Who Is Jennifer Little?
"If I can do it with learning-challenged students, you can do it with your students! Proven Methods for academic improvement... Quickly and Easily!" ~Jennifer Little, Ph.D.
Jennifer Little earned her Master's degree in teaching learning and behavior disordered students and Doctoral degree in Educational Psychology and Curriculum and Instruction. For over 40 years, Dr. Little has passionately helped learning-challenged students of all ages learn to the best of their ability. She has taught students, from preschool through graduate school, in 9 states. She observed how critical but unlearned or incompletely mastered developmental skills affected children at preschool, elementary, middle, and high school levels. Her unique and extensive experience helped her blend research from widely disparate fields with good educational practices to design both her assessment process and appropriate instruction for all ages. For more than 30 years she field tested methods and materials she developed to teach her students the skills they were missing. As students confidently and dramatically improved their reading and math scores, their social skills also improved.
Dr. Little realized in early in her teaching career that the educational system can both create and resolve many learning problems. Concerned enough to work beyond typical job requirements, she experimented with instructional methods that she designed specifically for her students and discovered two things that formal researchers often fail to recognize:
- Appropriate interventions quickly help students experience success in school.
- Good interventions make it seem the children had no problems in the first place.
Dr. Little has demonstrated for decades that, if learning-challenged students can significantly improve their skills, then all students can do it. She has taught the interventions offered here to pre-service and in-service teachers who have replicated her success with students.
